Position Overview/Summary

The Head of Project Management is a working leadership position that establishes an overall strategy and methodology of the Project Management department that supports Dresser-Rand goals. This role ensures all D-R projects met agreed-to scope, cost, schedule, quality, cash flow, and client satisfaction.


Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred)


  • 5+ years in project management, Contract fulfillment or similar role
  • Experience in large project environment (plant engineering).
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex product specifications with customers.
  • 5+ years experience in complex, technically demanding industries such as oil & gas or power generation.
  • Documented experience in scope change management.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

  • Establish, deploy, and maintain common project management processes, templates, and reports that encompass all project phases.
  • Ensure full compliance with processes and reporting by all Project Managers and Project Analysts.
  • Influence Company and D-RCS financial position by proactive cash flow management.
  • Support the Process Innovation group to drive root cause and corrective action for any issue directly or indirectly encountered on a project.
  • Identify shortcomings in the order entry process and obtain consensus on solutions by working with the Marketing & Sales, Process Innovation, Engineering, Operations and BA units.
  • Establish and maintain a project management training curriculum to enable all individuals to improve their project management skills.
  • Ensure the leadership team is kept appropriately informed of project risks or opportunities that affect client satisfaction or a project's cost, schedule, quality, or cash flow.
  • Proactively manage projects to ensure that all requirements are met and that all proposed changes to contract documented scope are assessed through the formal change order process.
  • Establish a risk management process that ensures significant risks to successful delivery of projects are documented and assessed.
  • Ensure timely resolution of any client, internal, supplier issues impacting contract schedule, cost, and client satisfaction.
  • Adequately document all contractual product, service, and delivery requirements (technical and commercial).
  • Provide monthly project summaries to PS DO Olean Leadership and staff with agreed format and content.
  • Actively participate in the sales & operations planning process with input on current and projected workload.
  • Obtain and develop plan for the team to obtain their Siemens PM Certification.
  • Lead monthly Cost Review with CEO of TCP.
