Position Overview/Summary

Candidate will be responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, recording of as found conditions, and reassembly of rotating compressor equipment. Work as part of a team within a team to ensure that all projects are completed safely, correctly and meet or exceed customer expectations. Follow and promote all safety and quality directives in support of Dresser-Rand's commitment to being the industries Premier Service Provider to our clients.


This position is located in Gonzales, LA as the shop has moved from Baton Rouge, LA.

Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred)



  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years disassembly and re-assembly of steam turbines, centrifugal compressor, or reciprocating compressor components experience required.
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard inspection and measurement instruments and prepare factual reports and/or sketches of work performed.
  • Knowledge of blueprint/blueprint reading and general tolerances is required. Must be able to solve assembly and set-up problems with minimal technical supervision.
  • Must provide personal tooling and measuring instruments for general machine shop use.
  • Computer literate and familiarity with: MS Office, MS Project and Outlook.


  • Knowledge in the disassembly and re-assembly of steam turbines, centrifugal compressor, or reciprocating compressor components.
  • Possess effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

  • The ability to routinely lift at least 25 pounds, as required to perform essential functions of the position.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds periodically, as required to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Proficient use of common PMI's (mic's, gauges, and etc.)
  • Responsible for following of all safe work practices, D-R safety and quality policies and procedures during normal daily operations.  
  • Maintenance of shop equipment and regular daily shop house keeping to ensure an organized and safe working environment.  
  • Use of basic problem solving skills in terms of gathering facts, analyzing the cause and selecting the best most accurate solution.
  • Compressor disassembly, cleaning, and inspection including the accurate collection and recording of technical inspection data for equipment repair proposals.
