Position Overview/Summary

Reporting to the Branch Manager, Eastern Canada, this position is responsible for supporting the client services function in Dresser-Rand Canada - East; providing quotations; and acting as a primary liaison for correspondence and communication with clients. 

 

Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred)

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years experience OR equivalent 10+ years of related industry experience
  • Experience managing costs, budget experience, etc.
  • Project Management experience
  • Client-driven attitude with focus on safety, quality, meeting the clients’ requirements and cost effectiveness

Preferred:

  • Experience in planning, estimating and procurements of engineering / materials
  • Experience and understanding of turbo-machinery and rotating equipment repairs
  • Strong client facing and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated time management capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple duties and responsibilities simultaneously

Position Responsibilities and Duties

Key Responsibility 1: Safety

  • Attend and participate in all safety meetings and complete required BBAs
  • Conduct Behavior Based Safety Audits and report any safety concerns observed
  • Ensure all employees in the department have completed the required safety training
  • Understand and adhere to the D-R safety culture / environment

Key Responsibility 2: Customer Relations

  • Responsible for maintaining relationships and client communication by conducting the following tasks:
    • Develop quotations and proposals
    • Respond to technical questions
    • Develop project plans for execution
    • Invoice and report presentations
    • Warranty resolution
  • Responsible for being first-line contact between client and / or sales Account Manager for repair work

Key Responsibility 3: Project Management

  • Work with Leadhands and Account Managers to develop quotations for repair work including associated detailed costs
  • Liaise with clients and discuss progress of work and project updates
  • Work with shop Leadhands and Shop Supervisor on tracking job progress, parts, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring all job files are C-SOX compliant and follow GAAP rules, which include referring new clients for credit and export clearance
  • Responsible for ensuring 100% compliance with the Purchase Order matching the D-R Quote in Scope, Terms and Conditions, Commercial Terms and Value.  Review Purchase Order contractual Terms and Conditions
  • Accountable for reporting Bookings or Change Orders which are entered within 24 hours of receipt from the client
  • Responsible for:
    • Monitoring and facilitating schedule execution on time 
    • Monitor and expedite contracts
    • Coordinate and facilitate problem resolution due to scheduling conflicts
    • Sets client commitment dates for parts orders issued from inside sales
  • Responsible for functions consisting of, but not limited to, engineering standards, logging in and out necessary drawings, inspection forms and other related information and data
  • Verify as required shop routing sheets for procedure / specification / hold point requirements and applicability prior to start of job
  • Participate in project review and shipment meetings with DR management
  • Remove barriers to successful project execution as necessary and forecasting of work in progress
  • Provide concise and descriptive feedback to the Shop Supervisor on client requirements
  • Implement / participate in Warranty, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and Implementation
  • Assist in the inventory control / storage of customer property
  • Report any non-conformances

Key Responsibility 4: Budgetary Responsibility

  • Responsible for monitoring actual costs while updating the client on project progress
  • Actively involved in service center job administration from floor work, purchasing of parts and materials, job status and cost accounting 
  • Responsible for entering purchase requisitions for parts, labour and / or external services needed into electronic work orders
