Position Overview/Summary

The Project Manager (PM) has full responsibility and accountability for Project execution to include, but not limited to:

  • Estimation
  • Resources Management
  • Cost control
  • Financial result

Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred)

Required:

  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work OT as needed
  • Technical and creative problems solving skills

  • Valid Canadian Driver's Licence

Preferred:

  • 5+ years experience related to the repair overhaul of high energy rotating equipment such as steam turbines/generators, integral gas engine/compressors, centrifugal compressors and reciprocating compressors
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management with:
    • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
    • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
    • Direct work experience in Project Management capacity     
    • Proven experience in people Management, strategic planning, risk management and change management
  • Proficient in Project Management software
  • Engineering Bachelor's Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering
  • Qualification in Project Management or equivalent

Position Responsibilities and Duties

Dresser-Rand Field Service Projects include repairs, revamps, upgrades, and installation of D-R and non-nameplate rotating equipment.  The D-R Field Service Project Manager is responsible for all phases of Field Service Projects, from developing the Project plan during the sales and planning / coordination phases to managing the project stakeholders, team, risk, schedule, budget, and any potential conflicts through the Project execution and close-out phases.  The Field Service PM is accountable for ensuring everyone on the team knows and executes his or her role, feels empowered and supported in the role, knows the roles of the other team members and acts upon the belief that those roles will be performed.

 

A Project Manager’s duties include the successful planning, execution and closing of a project.  A PM is responsible for applying the appropriate knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to manage the different project processes throughout the various project phases:

 

Key Responsibility 1: Project Planning

  • Identify the project stakeholders
  • Determine the stakeholder’s needs and expectations

  • Establish a clear set of project goals
  • Sequence activities to meet delivery dates
  • Produce the detailed project schedule
  • Determine type, quantity, and quality of resources required
  • Allocate resources and establish resource schedule
  • Determine the budget and create financial plan

  • Identify techniques for Quality Control (QC) and develop the Quality Assurance (QA) plan
  • Map the risks, identify contingency actions and develop a risk plan
  • Clarify completion criteria for each deliverable and develop an acceptance plan
  • Develop communication strategy with stakeholders and establish a communication plan
  • Identify any required external suppliers and develop a procurement plan
  • Assemble the project team
