Position Overview/Summary

Responsible for evaluation of existing D-R installed fleet looking for and supporting value added revamp offerings. This role is responsible for developing contractual requirements for potential orders (Including scope, technical contract requirements, and commercial details for cost and lead time for proposed solutions). The role as part of its responsibilities has some client facing requirements. Main client facing responsibility will be to support sales efforts by answering technical questions from beginning of lead development all the way thru to factory order entry.

Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred)


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
  • Possess and demonstrate a high degree of tact and professionalism along with an appropriate level of tenacity
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Solid computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point)
  • Work collaboratively and individually with the same enthusiasm and intensity
  • Travel (estimated 10%) in order to provide support technically to sales and client to help close potential opportunities.
  • Ability to listen to customer needs, develop complex solutions and sell the benefits to the client.


  • Three to Five years related experience in turbo-machinery industry
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Dresser-Rand's products and services
  • Good foundation of fundamental compressor performance (aero/thermodynamic principals) applied to single and multi-section machines.
  • Good foundation of mechanical aspects of machine design, compressor rotor dynamics, structural analysis, etc.
  • Commercial background in selling, costing and proposal development is a plus.
  • Good foundation in drive train equipment such as steam turbines, motors, gears and gas turbines as well any supporting auxiliary systems is a plus.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work safely following all corporate / local procedures and timely completion of all required safety training.
  • Evaluates and identifies clients existing equipment builds looking for improvements in mechanical and aero dynamic performance. 
  • Develops proposals off of evaluation findings to introduce value added concept solutions to generate business.
  • Iterates with sales organization and the client to fine tune solutions that work with in the client’s technical constraints and return on investment goals.
  • Leads the development of technical work scope, cost and pricing for technical solutions to centrifugal compressors, drivers, gears and auxiliary equipment. 
  • Collaborates with factory subject matter experts on design and execution details prior to order.
  • Collaborates with vendors on design and execution details for major buyouts prior to order.
